Ryanair Cabin Crew Given Stark Choice – Relocate to Europe at Your Own Expense, or Go without Pay for 6 Weeks

Ryanair Plane in Flight

Ryanair cabin crew based at East Midlands Airport have been given the option of 6 weeks unpaid leave over the winter, or relocating to Holland to Germany for work. If they choose to relocate, they will be expected to cover their own accommodation and meal expenses.

The Independent have seen a letter from Ryanair’s European Base Manager to senior cabin crew, in which is written: “Although East Midlands has an aircraft reduction this winter, we have a number of bases that are having a significant increase in aircraft numbers this winter and therefore additional requirement for Customer Service Supervisors, these bases include Berlin, Cologne and Eindhoven.”

“In the event that you choose not to temporary [sic] second to one of the above bases where there is work readily available for you, then we will be left with no alternative but to allocate your unpaid leave”

“Please note that you will not be entitled to receive statutory pay for this period of allocated unpaid leave in circumstances where you have declined alternative work.”

A spokesperson for Ryanair said: “This is a standard winter leave option for cabin crew.”

Big thanks for the £304.70 transferred to my bank account today. My claim related to a three-leg flight from Norwich UK to Phoenix USA via Schiphol. The CAA suggested I had a good case but could do nothing because the delay occurred within Dutch jurisdiction. I twice did battle with KLM/Delta myself but they would not budge. Another claims firm tried but threw in the towel. So congratulations to Claim4Flights for taking it on and winning – and for getting the money transferred into my bank account within two days of notification. Very impressed!
