New app developed to help take the stress out of dealing with cancelled and delayed flights

Cancelled and delayed flights are a traveller’s bug bear, whether it be missing an important business meeting or losing days on a long-awaited family holiday. The cancellations and delays will not go away, however, British technology firm, Travelport, has introduced an app to help take the stress out of flight rebooking and sourcing accommodation should your flight be delayed or cancelled. The app has been developed to provide a solution to the long queues and waiting around at the airport and provide a seamless, stress-free solution to those experiencing delayed or cancelled flights.

Statistics show that a European flight is cancelled every eight minutes. With reports of passengers standing in queues for 24 hours, meal vouchers running out and hotels overbooked, a shakeup is required to assist airlines in dealing with delays and cancellations.

Tim Jeans, former managing director of Monarch Airlines, told The Independent: “Any technology solution which avoids having to stand in line at the ticket counter must be an improvement on the situation passengers face now.

“The biggest frustration for passengers when flights are cancelled at short notice is the lack of real-time information on which they can base their plans. It might even be cheaper for airlines as it might allow passengers travelling from home to simply return there and come back to the airport when their new flight is scheduled, rather than remaining there at the airlines expense, and the inevitable loss of goodwill that results.

“Provided cancellation protocols are clear and passengers can rely on the information the app gives them, then it’s a win-win for all parties.”

Big thanks for the £304.70 transferred to my bank account today. My claim related to a three-leg flight from Norwich UK to Phoenix USA via Schiphol. The CAA suggested I had a good case but could do nothing because the delay occurred within Dutch jurisdiction. I twice did battle with KLM/Delta myself but they would not budge. Another claims firm tried but threw in the towel. So congratulations to Claim4Flights for taking it on and winning – and for getting the money transferred into my bank account within two days of notification. Very impressed!
