Manchester Airport Terminal Evacuated Due to Bomb Scare – Flights Delayed

manchester airport planes

Just before 0900 on Wednesday, Manchester police were called to terminal 3 of the airport to investigate a suspicious package. The terminal was evacuated, and the police called in bomb disposal experts.

The bomb disposal experts carried out a series of controlled explosions to disarm any potential threat from the package, which it turns out was not a viable explosive device. After the 3-hour evacuation, travellers were allowed back into the terminal, but dozens of flights were delayed or cancelled and thousands of travellers were stranded in the meantime.

Terminals 1 and 2 remained open throughout the incident, helping to alleviate some of the strain of the closure of terminal 3.

Big thanks for the £304.70 transferred to my bank account today. My claim related to a three-leg flight from Norwich UK to Phoenix USA via Schiphol. The CAA suggested I had a good case but could do nothing because the delay occurred within Dutch jurisdiction. I twice did battle with KLM/Delta myself but they would not budge. Another claims firm tried but threw in the towel. So congratulations to Claim4Flights for taking it on and winning – and for getting the money transferred into my bank account within two days of notification. Very impressed!
