Heathrow Airport Has Busiest October on Record

October 2014 Results for Heathrow Airport

London Heathrow Airport has recorded its busiest ever October, seeing 6.32 million passengers pass through their terminals, with an increase of 0.4% on October the previous year.
More flights were seen from China, up 9.6%, as well as an increase of 7.2% to Brazil, 6.6% higher for Mexico and 4.5% more flights to India.

The level of these results could be considered surprising after reports throughout October with

Heathrow Airport and Ebola

In response to the threat of Ebola, screening has was put in place at airport terminals. Although a needed health and safety measure, the added procedure surely must have slowed travellers passage through the airport and even deterred passengers from flying to and from the affected countries.

IT Issues at Heathrow Airport

Flight delays were also reported during the month of October as a result of an IT problem caused disruption. The IT failure effected the handling of baggage and the online arrivals and departure service. These issues resulted in a number of flight delays.

As more passengers are flying to and from Heathrow, the airport may start to struggle with increased passenger numbers, causing delays through check in and border control.

Big thanks for the £304.70 transferred to my bank account today. My claim related to a three-leg flight from Norwich UK to Phoenix USA via Schiphol. The CAA suggested I had a good case but could do nothing because the delay occurred within Dutch jurisdiction. I twice did battle with KLM/Delta myself but they would not budge. Another claims firm tried but threw in the towel. So congratulations to Claim4Flights for taking it on and winning – and for getting the money transferred into my bank account within two days of notification. Very impressed!
