Flights Cancelled as Typhoon Hato Heads for Hong Kong

Hong Kong Airport

Typhoo Hato is expected to pass within 100km of Hong Kong on Wednesday, with the possibility of strong winds, heavy rain and flooding threatening the island.

The airline Cathay Pacific has cancelled all flights between 0600 and 1700 local time as a result. Hong Kong Airlines has cancelled flights between 0700 and 1700. Further cancelled flights are expected to be a problem for other airlines and unlucky travellers.

Travellers expecting to fly into or out of Hong Kong on Wednesday are advised to contact their airline to find out about possible changes in schedules, and to expect disruption.

The Hong Kong Airport Authority said passengers should confirm their flights before heading to the airport.

“As typhoon Hato gradually approaches, flights at the Hong Kong International Airport will be affected all day tomorrow,” it said.

Big thanks for the £304.70 transferred to my bank account today. My claim related to a three-leg flight from Norwich UK to Phoenix USA via Schiphol. The CAA suggested I had a good case but could do nothing because the delay occurred within Dutch jurisdiction. I twice did battle with KLM/Delta myself but they would not budge. Another claims firm tried but threw in the towel. So congratulations to Claim4Flights for taking it on and winning – and for getting the money transferred into my bank account within two days of notification. Very impressed!
