FLIGHT REROUTED COMPENSATION

Flight Rerouted Compensation

If you have been on a flight in the last 6 years which was rerouted then you could be entitled to claim flight rerouted compensation of up to £500 cash per passenger from your airline using European Legislation. You can use our free claim calculator to see if you may have a qualifying claim for flight rerouted compensation.

The legal definition of when a flight has been rerouted is the same as a cancelled flight and is stated as the specific flight that you held a valid booking / reservation on did not depart the airport. Airlines may also refer to a cancelled flight as being “non-operational”.

To make a successful claim for flight rerouted compensation you must have been on a flight regulated by the European Union, this means it must have been scheduled to depart from a country in the European Union or have been on an airline registered for trade in a European Country which was meant to land at a European Union airport. For your claim to be successful we need to show that the airline could have avoided the delay if they had chosen to and it was not caused by an “extraordinary circumstance”. Finally, the flight must have been within the last 6 years.

How much cash could I get?

Each passenger on a qualifying rerouted flight is entitled to varying levels of flight rerouted compensation depending on the length of the flight;

  • Around £104 (€125) for up to 2 hour delay on cancelled flights of 1,500 kilometres or less
  • Around £208 (€250) for more than a 2 hour delay on cancelled flights of more than 1,500 kilometres
  • Around £167 (€200) for up to a 3 hour delay on cancelled flights of 1,500 – 3,500 kilometres
  • Around £333 (€400) for more than a 3 hour delay on cancelled flights of 1,500 – 3,500 kilometres
  • Around £250 (€300) for up to a 4 hour delay on cancelled flights of more than 3,500 kilometres
  • Around £500 (€600) for more than a 4 hour delay on cancelled flights of more than 3,500 kilometres

All claims amounts are determined according to European Legislation (EU261); this also means all flight rerouted compensation is paid in Euros. As we are a UK based business the Euros are converted into pounds by the airlines when they are paid. We have assumed a £1 is €1.2 when calculating the above numbers.
