Armed Police Called to Calm Chaos After BA Flight Delayed for Two Days

British Airways Plane in Flight

Armed police were called out at Heathrow Airport on Monday after a British Airways flight was delayed for two days.

The passengers had already been delayed overnight and stayed at hotels at Heathrow following a technical fault the day before, and were waiting on the runway to take off the following day. When they learnt that this flight also was cancelled due to a baggage mix-up and they would have to wait another day, holidaymakers went mad and directed abuse at cabin crew inside the plane.

Fearing for their safety, the cockpit crew called in armed police who calmed the situation.  Passengers left the plane four hours later, and had to wait until the following day – two days late – to finally leave for Las Vegas.

However, to add insult to injury the airline also messed up the baggage handling arrangements so that some people’s baggage had gone the day before while other passengers arrived in LA without their baggage, and had to wait yet another day to be reunited with it.  Travellers vented their anger on social media.

Big thanks for the £304.70 transferred to my bank account today. My claim related to a three-leg flight from Norwich UK to Phoenix USA via Schiphol. The CAA suggested I had a good case but could do nothing because the delay occurred within Dutch jurisdiction. I twice did battle with KLM/Delta myself but they would not budge. Another claims firm tried but threw in the towel. So congratulations to Claim4Flights for taking it on and winning – and for getting the money transferred into my bank account within two days of notification. Very impressed!
